Jonathan Goldstein appointed as Head of Real Estate and Direct Investment for Europe for Guggenheim Partners

Jonathan Goldsetin, one of Europe’s most experienced executives in the field of commercial property, has been appointed as Head of Real Estate and Direct Investment in Europe for Guggenheim Partners.

Goldstein has joined Guggenheim’s real estate and infrastructure investment department to focus  on identifying long-term investment opportunities, in addition to seeking out potential  partnerships in commercial real estate, both  in the United Kingdom as well as in  Mainland Europe.

Mr. Goldstein’s appointment signifies a major milestone in the global expansion of activities for Guggenheim Partners,  a privately held global financial services firm with more than $190 billion in assets under management. As well as  their real estate activities,  Guggenheim Partners also provide a variety of other services to commerce and industry including asset management , investment banking , capital markets advisory services, insurance services, institutional finance to an international client base comprising institutions, government agencies as well as some of the World’s largest corporations.

Guggenheim Partners  have their global headquarters in New York and Chicago as well as  26  regional offices in eight different countries.

Jonathan Goldstein will be based in Guggenheim’s London offices, not far from the head office of Heron Internationalwhere he has served as Deputy Chief Executive for the past five years.

Announcing Goldstein’s appointment, Henry R. Silverman, Guggenheim Partners’ Global Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure stated that Jonathan joins the company  to expand the scale of our European investing, in keeping with our mandate to source and originate above-market real-estate and infrastructure investment opportunities for our clients.”

“Jonathan’s exceptional knowledge of direct investing in real assets in the UK and on the Continent, together with his background in finance, management and law, make him the ideal person to lead our expansion in Europe.” Mr. Silverman summed up.

In response, Jonathan Goldstein expressed his excitement at becoming a part of the Guggenheim team, which has a depth of talent to match its global investment activities and a network of loyal investors in literally every gateway city in the world, meaning that a real opportunity exists to build a substantial presence in the UK and Continental European real estate markets.

 

Before joining the Heron group in 2007, Jonathan Goldstein was employed at the London based legal  practice of  Olswang LLP for fifteen years, with the last  nine of them in the role of as Chief Executive, making him at that time the youngest Senior Partner of a City law firm.

During the time he was senior partner at Olswang, the practice’s  annual revenues grew sevenfold, reaching a peak of  £90 million, ($135 million) driven by steady expansion into mainland Europe as well as the forging of strategic alliances with a number of other major national international legal practices.

Goldstein left Olswang in 2007 to take up the role of served Chief Executive Officer at Gerald Ronson’s property company, Ronson Capital Partners Limited. The following year he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive at Gerald Ronson’s Heron International Group,   handling  all of the group’s corporate and financial affairs involving their extensive property portfolio  in the UK, Spain, France and Sweden.
