Once upon a time, casino gaming meant an evening out at a bricks and mortar building. Some might argue that even today, nothing compares to the excitement of a real-life casino. But times change. And over the last decade and more, casino gaming moved into homes across the world, thanks to outstanding online gaming sites, which allow players to experience the thrill of the casino from their personal computer.

And the latest revolution over the past several years has increasingly seen the casino experience follow the player wherever they may be. Mobile gaming is revolutionizing the industry. It is allowing users to play when they want, wherever they want. And in doing so, mobile gaming might just be attracting new players to the market.

The sheer convenience of playing a hand of poker on the bus, or spinning a roulette wheel in the bath is difficult to compete with. However, the speed of mobile gaming’s growth has been quite stunning. It is estimated that mobile gaming accounts make up one third of all money staked globally. It is a figure which is likely to pass 50% by 2020.

Quite simply though, mobiles are overtaking desktops. According to a report at guardian.co.uk, Google recently announced that mobile usage exceeded desktop use for the first time ever. Credit though must also go to outstanding online casinos, which have adapted so successfully to this trend. They have not only produced games which play faultlessly via mobile devices. They have also developed unique games, offers and features for mobile users too. In doing so, they have successfully tapped into a burgeoning market.

However, perhaps the factor which has most significantly swung things in favor of mobile gaming, is the prominence of sports betting. All of the major sports betting platforms have developed seamless mobile capabilities. Users can now place bets, follow the form and cash out directly from their mobile devices. What this means is that sports fans can now bet on a match or fixture in real time, wherever they are. So if they are watching with friends on TV, or at the game itself, as outlined in this espn.com report, mobile betting brings a whole new betting dimension to their sporting experience. It is no wonder that so many sports betting sites are promoting their ‘live betting’ products.

Although app stores routinely refuse to offer apps which facilitate gambling, this has not slowed the popularity of mobile gaming. The fact that so many users make the effort to download an app from an online casino, rather than use the convenience of a general app store, just goes to show how popular mobile gaming is.

And this popularity just might help the online gaming industry to crack a market which it has so far struggled to tap. Traditionally, it has found the millennial demographic a reluctant target audience. However, the popularity of mobile use among this crowd and indeed mobile games, has given online casinos plenty of hope that if made attractive and marketed correctly, then young adults could too become big fans of the online casino world.
