Conservative thinker David Frum was no fan of Donald Trump’s during the Presidential elections this year. Now he has spoken out on Twitter to rip the President Elect for his very negative New Year’s Twitter message.

Donald Trump surprised no one when he did not cease to make negative and surly tweets slamming his enemies after he won the election. And why should New Year’s be any different? The President Elect tweeted, “Happy New Year to all, including to my many enemies and those who have fought me and lost so badly they just don’t know what to do. Love!”

One of those enemies is David Frum. So how did Frum respond? He tweeted about it, of course.

First Mr. Frum reminded Mr. Trump about what his more magnanimous predecessors said in victory. This included Thomas Jefferson’s inaugural address in 1801 when, after a very divisive election and the first time in American history that an incumbent lost his bid for reelection, Jefferson made a call for unity saying, “We are all Federalists; we are all Republicans.” The Federalists were the precursors to the modern Republican Party and the Republicans were Thomas Jefferson’s Democratic Republican Party which is what we know today as simply the Democrats.

In the following tweet David Frum quoted President Abraham Lincoln.

Democratic political activist Michael Skolnik also got in on the fun by tweeting a quote from President Obama.

So will Donald Trump stop with the mean spirited commenting once he assumes the oath of office? Of course not.

And we can expect writers like David Frum to continue to hit back.
