Willy Wonka is Coming Back

Willy Wonka is coming back.

Willy Wonka fans celebrate as a new movie is in the works. Yay!! It will be produced by David Heyman who is the grandson of German Jewish refugees who made it to England just before World War II.Willy Wonka

There have now been two movies based on the iconic novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl. The first was the 1971 film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” which stared Gene Wilder. No one who saw that movie did not learn to love it, especially those of us who saw for the first time as children.

Then there was Tim Burton’s utterly forgettable remake from 2005 called “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” It had none of the magic nor any of the wit of the first film which made the character Will Wonka a hero. Hopefully the new movie will help us all to forget about that one.

The new film based on the Willy Wonka character will neither be a reboot nor a remake. It is said to be a prequel based on an entirely new story about what Wonka did in his life before the first movie’s events.

According to a report in Variety, David Heyman will work together with Michael Siegel, who is the manager of the Dahl Estate.

Heyman has already produced 36 movies in his career, including the films of the Harry Potter series.
