London mayoral hopeful Zac Goldsmith mocked after failing to name major Tube station

LONDON mayoral hopeful Zac Goldsmith has been mocked after failing to name a major Tube station as well as one of the capital’s leading football clubs.

Grilled on London trivia, the Tory candidate was unable to name Queens Park Rangers as the club who play at Loftus Road.

And asked by BBC presenter Norman Smith what station comes after Bond St, Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road on the London Underground’s Central Line, Mr Goldsmith was unable to identify Holborn station despite claiming he “often” uses the Tube.

Instead, the Richmond Park and North Kingston MP replied: “Most people have a route or two routes and they become like an extension of the body and you use those routes not for ethical reasons but because it is the only way to get around London without being late for meetings.

“But for routes outside of the norm you have apps like CityMapper which I rely very heavily on pretty much every day and they ensure that you get where you need to get to on time.”

Mr Goldsmith was also unable to say where the Museum of London is located but was able to name Dirty Den as the first landlord of EastEnders’ Queen Vic pub.
