Mets COO Jeff Wilpon breaks year-long silence after National League East title

 

Jeff Wilpon stood along the edges of the Mets clubhouse. While the new National League East champions celebrated, the team’s chief operating officer watched from the side.

He has earned heaps of scorn from an agitated fan-base and became a prime target of their anger as the Mets scuffled this summer. But in the heat of the party, Wilpon took time to speak with the media for the first time in a year.
