Bill Maher: Major Garret is an A%#Hole

Real Time with Bill Maher

Bill Maher has joined the chorus of people who have criticized Fox News correspondent for how he addressed President Obama at a press conference this week. Maher called Garrett an asshole and basically accused the reporter of racism.

When President Obama took questions about the nuclear deal with Iran, Major Garrett asked him about the four American citizens currently being held in Iran and why their release was not made part of any deal.

Garret had implied in his question that the President was somehow “content” to see the four Americans continue to be improsoned in Iran. A visibly annoyed President responded, “Nobody’s ‘content, ’ and our diplomats and our teams are working diligently to try to get them out.”

Garret later admitted that he had intended to strike a nerve with the President with his question.

Bill Maher has now tweeted that what Garrett did was not just wrong, but inherently racist. The comic wrote:

“#MajorGarrett is a huge asshole. If U wanna “strike a nerve” with POTUS, why not just scream the N word? That shld get his attention.”

The asshole part is debatable, but the second part of what Maher said is really going overboard. He has no right to make such an accusation and Maher is known for claiming that all attacks on president Obama are somehow racist in nature.
