Tony Blair Makes A Fortune As An International Fixer

Tony-Blair

Robert Mendick of the Daily Telegraph makes it seem like Britain’s former prime minister Tony Blair is making a killing since he left 10 Downing Street. His career as an “international fixer” is far more lucrative. In four years, Tony Blair Associates raked up expenses and salaries of around 57 million pounds or $86 million, about 350, 000 pounds or $560, 000 per employee.

Aside for salaries, the money is spent on rent for its headquarters in one of the most exclusive areas in London, private jet flights around the world and stays at the most lavish hotels. It is hard to know how much Tony Blair himself makes, because the money is filtered through various other organizations, some of which are Limited Partnerships that are not required to make public their financial records. Tony Blair insists he is only worth 10 million pounds ($15 million) but his company is spending much more than that.

Blair has divided his company into Windrush Ventures, which advises governments around the world, and Firerush, which advises companies and sovereign wealth funds. Some of the money made by these firms is tax protected or does not need to be disclosed. For instance, 48 million pounds or $72 million were listed as “administrative expenses.”
