Did Giada de Laurentiis’ Marriage Break Up Because of an Affair With John Mayer?

2014 L.A. Loves Alex's Lemonade

Did Italian-born food writer Giada de Laurentis, and star of the Food Network’s “Giada At Home” have an affair with John Mayer, and did that affair end her 11 year marriage? Rumors of an affair have been swirling since 2009, and the questions have never really been answered. John Mayer, the 37 year old songwriter and producer, born in Connecticut with a Jewish father, was said to have been romantically linked to Giada, who is 44, and recently ended her marriage to Todd Thompson.

No one tried to make any bones about the fact that there were indeed rumors. In interviews, Giada was asked about it and said the rumors were embarrassing to her husband. By the time Giada spoke frankly about how she felt about the rumors on interviews, she admitted she had only known John briefly and hadn’t seen him for 3 years. “Maybe we chatted for five minutes, ” she said, “but I would hardly call that intimate?”
