This will mark a return to the cable network for Parker, whose father was Jewish, after a ten year absence. Her hugely popular show Sex and the City, which made Parker a star, ended its six year run in 2014.

The 49 year old actress is still looking to prove that she is not just a one hit wonder as it were. So far her only real successes have been the Sex and the City show and its two movies. She recently made guest appearances on Glee and her 2006 romantic comedy with Mathew McConaughey “Failure to Launch” was both a critical and box office flop.

The new show from British writer and actress Sharon Horgan is still waiting for a greenlight to film a pilot. It centers on the story of a long drawn out divorce. Parker will play a middle aged woman – not a case of casting against type – who decides to pursue divorce at the behest of her friends. Things get complicated when her husband finds out that she has been having an affair.

Paul Simms, who worked on other HBO shows like Girls and Bored to Death, is also set to serve as an executive producer.

Parker can next be seen staring in the new movie “All Roads Lead to Rome” which is due out sometime in 2015.
