Sacha Baron Cohen in Israel for Grandmother’s Funeral

Sacha Baron Cohen at funeral

Liselle Weiser, who studied dance and gymnastics in Germany, emigrated to England and then made aliyah to Israel, passed away in Bat Yam at the age of 99, according to Walla. She is the grandmother of British comedian and actor Sacha Baron Cohen, the creator of Borat, Bruno and Admiral General Aladeen, better known as the Dictator. Sacha Baron Cohen has flown to Bat Yam to attend the funeral.

Sacha Baron Cohen used to send flowers to his maternal grandmother every week, and visited her in Bat Yam, where he was recognized often in restaurants dining with his bubbe. When approached in the restaurant, he said he did not want any photographs taken of him without his Dictator costume. Even in her late nineties, Liselle taught dance and fitness to the over 60s crowd and made videos demonstrating her exercise routine. Baruch dayan ha Emet.
