Just when you might have forgotten she was there, but knew she was going to make a reappearance at some point before a rumored Hilary Clinton bid for the White House, Monica Lewinsky is speaking out again. In her second Vanity Fair article, she discussed how the recent hacked leaks of nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton brought back unpleasant memories of invasion.
The 41-year old former White House intern who had an affair with then President Bill Clinton, an affair that led to an impeachment as well as a scandal, had a few additional moments of unease to add to her centrality in a national scandal when there were rumors that photos of her wearing only lingerie were discovered. Fortunately for her, they were fake.

“In the last week or two, as new batches of nude celebrity pictures have circulate around the Web– again violating the privacy of the women depicted–I was reminded of the few moments of sheer panic I had undergone before I realized the photos were not real. I felt compassion for these women.”
But what was leaked, in case you’ve forgotten, was an entire “girl talk” conversation between her and Linda Tripp about her affair with the Commander in Chief, with selected highlights from the full 20 hour series appearing on C-SPAN, “Like so many others, I feel outrage. As a fellow victim, a civilized individual, and as a woman, when other women are so easily and publicly violated.”
By calling herself a “victim” she can’t be implying that her affair to remember was anything but consensual, since as I recall, she flashed her thong at him and and not vice versa, but by “victim” I assume she means a victim of betrayal and exposure by Linda Tripp. Well, one wonders why she should have trusted Tripp anyway. Someone who works for the Pentagon? Why didn’t she pour out her soul to a hairdresser, change Bill’s name, and say it was with a janitor named Al who had a high-class cigar fetish? Couldn’t she have waited until he was out of office and sold her secret to Bill’s biographer (along with the smoking gun of the stained dress)? And wasn’t she crazy to have that conversation with Tripp by phone?
Ladies, if you ever have an affair with the President of the United States (regardless of the gender of the next President) don’t phone or text about it, and make sure anyone you discuss it with has all their devices on the table where you can see them.
