Last Fall Joan Rivers sold her Connecticut house for $4.4 million. The country house in Washington township, with 76 acres of land around it, had been on the market on and off since 2009, when it was first listed for US$6.5 million.

Highlights include a modern tester bed upholstered in pink linen, and altogether Christie’s are getting ready to offer to the public over 150 items which are now catalogued on their auction web site. Taken as a whole the collection comprises what Ms. Rivers described as, “the ultimate country house.”

As she reminisces about it herself, “This home was filled with some of the treasures of my life. The items offered in Christie’s Interiors auction range from very personal pieces designed by friends and renowned furniture makers such as Thomas Messel to keepsakes that I discovered on the road while travelling for concerts.”

My family and I shared only the happiest moments in this home and I hope my possessions bring the new owners equal happiness and joy”.
